How Dr. Andrew Built his Dream Practice

When Dr. Andrew opened his dental practice, the vision was clear, but the road to get there? Not so much. From a cramped office with five operatories and magenta walls to a 16,000-square-foot, 17-op community hub, he transformed more than just square footage. He built his dream practice, a thriving culture, empowered a growing team, and became the dentist their community chooses, all while staying true to his values!

At the Dental A Team, we’ve had the honor of walking alongside Dr. Andrew and his team for years, watching this evolution unfold. Their story isn’t just about growth, it’s about intentional leadership, accountability, and building a business that reflects who you REALLY are.

Meet the Dreamer and the Implementer

Dr. Andrew is a clinician through and through—passionate, skilled, and always thinking about what’s next. Jeff, a former marine geophysicist, came into dentistry with zero experience and a lot of curiosity. Together, they make the perfect team: Andrew dreams it, Jeff builds it.

But their journey wasn’t without challenges. Early on, Jeff found himself disengaged and overwhelmed. The team felt stagnant. And the office space was bursting at the seams. They knew something had to change—and they decided to change themselves first.

Leadership That Starts with Ownership

“I realized if I don’t enjoy coming into the office, no one else does either,” Jeff recalls.

That moment of reflection became a turning point. With coaching and clarity, Jeff shifted from feeling frustrated to becoming the leader the practice needed. He started asking better questions:
- How can we make work more fulfilling for our team?
- What kind of culture are we creating?
- How can we show up as the dream practice our community deserves?

Together, Jeff and Dr. Andrew aligned their roles, clarified their vision, and started building momentum, not just in numbers, but in morale.

Systems + Vision = Scalable Growth

From NDTR and blocked scheduling to team-wide leadership development, Jeff and Andrew implemented the foundational systems we teach at Dental A Team. But what made them different? They stuck with it—and customized the systems to their unique culture.

They also brought their team along for the ride.

- Team members helped choose paint colors.
- They visited the new location during construction milestones.
- Every concern was heard—and addressed—with transparency.

When you build trust inside the walls of your dream practice, it radiates outward. Their community noticed. Patient volume grew. And so did their footprint.

From Vision to Reality

Initially planning a small expansion, Jeff and Andrew pivoted during the pandemic. Instead of doubling their old building, they bought an entirely new one. It was risky. It was massive. And it paid off.

They made smart construction decisions—like reusing solid doors and repurposing plumbing lines—and involved their team in the process every step of the way. That intentionality created ownership, excitement, and loyalty.

Even a hurricane (yes, a literal one) couldn’t derail their momentum.

What Makes Their Success Different?

Plenty of practices scale. Not all of them stay happy doing it.

Jeff and Dr. Andrew’s growth came from a deep desire to serve—each other, their team, and their community. They weren’t chasing prestige. They were creating impact.

That’s why their team is engaged.
That’s why their patients feel the difference.
And that’s why we’re so proud to spotlight their story.
