New Dental Tech

Dentistry is shockingly more tech savvy than most people tend to believe. Most people don’t get to see the behind the scenes advances that dentists are using, let alone the shiny object syndrome of all the up and coming things.

Let’s explore new tech that has completely transformed how dentists practice in recent years! Some of you may use a few of these, many of you are dipping your toes in as we speak.

3D Printing

One of our favorite things to hit the dental world in recent years has been the 3D printing capabilities. Our kids are asking for 3D printers for holidays blowing the minds of their parents, while dentists have been here playing with these machines for years and using them to create some of the most amazing things in dentistry!

The art of 3D printing has changed the game for same day dentures, crowns, veneers, night guards and so much more! Heck, I’ve seen amazing vampire teeth at Halloween being printed in dental practices! It’s amazing what’s possible with this one machine!

VR Technology

Patient experience and dental anxiety treatments are completely changing with VR recently. That’s right, VR! In your dental chair!! Imagine going into an appointment and completely transporting your mind to another place altogether! Practices are using new VR headsets and capabilities to soothe dental patients and give them an experience of a lifetime!

Teledentistry

Teledentistry is still on the rise in dental practices as well. The capabilities for cosmetic consults alone has completely changed many practice models as a whole. There are dental practitioners who do virtual consults, meaning the patient gets to sit in the comfort of their own home while hearing the possibilities they hold for cosmetic treatment. Imagine the overhead decrease on that!

AI in Dental Practices

With AI on the rise, the possibilities are endless and being in Dental means we will truly be some of the first to implement even more new things into our work place. Programs like Pearl have already shaped changes for dentists and helped to build consistency in diagnosis plus reduce the all too common question of “do I really need this?” our patients tend to ask.
